Curing Cancer
64Curing Cancer
The ability to cure cancer is nothing short of a fantasy for many. What ever the type of cancer; peritoneal cancer, prostate cancer, or cancers such as mesothelioma a relatively new and preventable cancer, they all share the ability to instil fear in those effected. Curing cancer is not impossible, there will be a time when cancer is no longer a scary word, untill that timeBeing aware and stopping cancer in its early stages are key. As are supporting cancer research and cancer treatment.
Most people, if not everone will have been effected by cancer either directly or indirectly. The speed in which it can change peoples life is a sobering one.
Mesothelioma
Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that is caused, almost without fail, by exposure to asbestos.
Many older buildings used asbestos as fire retardant insulation. My old high school has asbestos in the older classrooms, holes and cracks had developed over time in the walls and ceiling, just how much and how long students had been exposed unknowingly to mesothelioma causing asbestos is scary. The dust and fibre particles are even dangerous by secondary people, such as a wife washing her husbands asbestos carrying work clothes. Lawsuits in many countries have resulted in compensation being awarded to those effected.
Hopefully with knowledge of the dangers of asbestos people will be able to prevent cancer caused by it as their is no miraculous cancer cure available.
Peritoneal Cancer
Peritoneal cancer can also be described as mesothelioma as it involves the same cells. Though peritoneal cancer is a cancer of the abdominal cavity. Often diagnosed ovarian cancer is in fact peritoneal cancer. Treatment for peritoneal cancer is the same for the most common type of ovarian cancer, though with any cancer early detection is the key in successfully treatment.
Prostate Cancer
The prostate helps aid in the function of healthy reproduction, the fluid it produces is present in a males ejaculate and aids spermatozoa in a safe trip.
Unfortunately the prostate is susceptible to prostate cancer. Many campaigns in making men aware of prostate cancer have been launched focusing on the importance of being aware of prostate health. An easy visit to your GP can be the difference between early detection and survival or having the cancer spread and multiply. Prostate cancer in it’s early stages usually presents no symptoms, increasing the importance of prostate exams to determine prostate health.
Cancer Research
Cancer research is among the highest funded areas of medical research with many organisations and commercial enterprises funding and sponsoring research and treatment of the disease. Still more research is needed to discover successful cancer treatment.
